A Legacy Forged Over Generations

The Toyota Supra’s journey began in 1978 with the Celica Supra, and from its inception, it captivated enthusiasts with its signature front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout and powerful inline six-cylinder engine. This fundamental formula has remained a constant throughout successive generations, solidifying the Supra’s place in automotive history. Each iteration of the Supra has been enjoyed both on public roads and fiercely contested racing circuits, building a rich heritage of performance and driving pleasure.

After a 17-year hiatus, the Supra made a triumphant return in 2019, driven by the personal passion of Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda, also known as Master Driver Morizo. Toyoda’s deep connection to the Supra is profound. He recounted, “Back in the day, I spent countless hours driving an old Supra at Nürburgring to become a master driver. Supra is like an old friend that holds a special place in my heart.” His dedication to reviving the Supra, even when official plans were absent, speaks volumes about the car’s significance and the unwavering desire of fans worldwide. The current GR Supra, born from rigorous testing at the Nürburgring, stands as a testament to this passion, embodying fun-to-drive character and continuous improvement.

Since its 2019 relaunch, the GR Supra has undergone continuous evolution. A significant addition came in 2020 with the introduction of a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. Offered alongside the renowned 3.0-liter straight-six turbo, this engine expanded the Supra’s appeal, retaining its core sports car DNA while offering the dynamic advantages of a smaller, lighter powerplant.

Further enhancing driver engagement, Toyota introduced a six-speed intelligent manual transmission (iMT) in Europe in 2022. Engineered for purists who relish the control and satisfaction of perfectly executed manual shifts, this transmission was specifically designed to complement the power and torque delivery of the 3.0-liter engine. Alongside the new transmission, the GR Supra’s braking and suspension systems were also refined, pushing performance boundaries even further.

GR Supra A90 Final Edition: The Ultimate Expression

The GR Supra A90 Final Edition is TOYOTA GAZOO Racing’s showcase of motorsport technology and expertise. It stands as a unique, high-performance GR Supra, meticulously honed to represent the pinnacle of the current generation’s evolution. Drawing inspiration from GR Supra’s participation in diverse motorsport arenas, from drift competitions to endurance races and NASCAR, and the success of the GR Supra GT4 in customer racing, the Final Edition is truly special.

Limited to just 300 units worldwide, the GR Supra A90 Final Edition, equipped with a three-liter engine and manual transmission, offers an exhilarating fusion of power, agility, and precision, amplified by a suite of carefully engineered modifications.

Unleashing Enhanced Performance

Powertrain enhancements elevate the output from 340 DIN hp (250 kW) to an impressive 435 DIN hp (320 kW), with torque increasing from 500 Nm to 570 Nm. This translates to noticeably faster acceleration and enhanced responsiveness, pushing the top speed to 270km/h, a 20km/h increase. These gains are achieved through revisions to the intake air path, the adoption of a low-back-pressure catalyst to minimize pressure loss, and optimized engine control systems.

Cornering prowess is significantly amplified in the A90 Final Edition, thanks to handling upgrades. Damping-force-adjustable KW suspension, the same brand utilized in the GR Supra GT4 race car, provides 16 rebound and 12 compression stages, ensuring agile handling across varied road conditions. Further cornering refinements include adjusted camber angles for both front and rear wheels, enhancing grip, and optimized active differential control to mitigate understeer.

Steering feel is sharpened by optimized electric power steering settings, exclusive to the A90 Final Edition, fostering a more direct connection. Additional modifications designed to strengthen the driver-road interface contribute to precise and confident driving dynamics. These include body reinforcement braces, such as a strengthened rear luggage space crossbar, the rigid aluminum rear subframe mount derived from the GR Supra GT4, and strengthened front and rear stabilizers.

Wider, 10mm tires, coupled with lightweight 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels adorned with the TGR logo, underscore the GR Supra’s renowned handling capabilities. High-grip Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires further encourage drivers to explore the limits of performance.

Braking performance is also elevated with 19-inch Brembo front brakes featuring high friction coefficient brake pads and drilled floating discs at both front and rear, ensuring robust stopping power even under demanding sports driving conditions. Stainless steel mesh brake hoses minimize pressure transmission loss due to hose expansion during braking, maximizing the efficiency of the enhanced brake system.

To ensure consistent peak performance, especially under high g-forces experienced during spirited driving, a baffle plate has been integrated into the engine oil pan to prevent uneven oil distribution. Cooling capacity is also bolstered by a strengthened radiator cooling fan, the addition of a sub-radiator, and enlarged differential gear cover cooling fins.

Aerodynamic and Aesthetic Distinction

The GR Supra A90 Final Edition not only boasts performance upgrades but also striking visual enhancements. The exterior, available in a unique matt black color, features aerodynamic changes developed through extensive wind tunnel testing by TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Europe (TGR-E), leveraging their motorsport and GR Supra GT4 expertise. A motorsport-inspired carbon-fiber front spoiler, front canards, and front center flap work in harmony with a GR Supra GT4-style carbon-fiber swan-neck rear wing to optimize aerodynamic balance, downforce, and drag, resulting in improved road contact and driving dynamics. A new carbon-fiber hood duct, featuring a removable inner element for additional cooling when needed, adds to both form and function. Taking further cues from the GR Supra GT4, the A90 Final Edition is equipped with an Akrapovič titanium muffler, producing a more powerful and evocative engine sound.

Inside the driver-centric cabin, RECARO Podium CF full-bucket seats, finished in racy red with Alcantara seat pads, ensure optimal driving position and comfort even under high g-forces. Red seat belts, exclusive carbon fiber scuff plates, and extensive Alcantara trim, including on the steering wheel, further emphasize the limited edition model’s exclusivity.
