Rolls-Royce has unveiled the Cullinan Series II, a significant evolution of its groundbreaking super-luxury SUV. Since its debut in 2018, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan has redefined the super-luxury automotive landscape, attracting a new generation of clients to the brand. The Cullinan Series II builds upon this success, integrating cutting-edge digital technology, exquisite new materials, and meticulously refined design elements to maintain its position as the definitive Rolls Royce Suv.
“In 2018, Cullinan reframed super-luxury motoring, enabling Rolls-Royce clients to experience the brand’s hallmark magic carpet ride regardless of the terrain and in every corner of the world. In the six years since, Cullinan has attracted entirely new groups of clients to Rolls-Royce and profoundly altered perceptions of what a Rolls-Royce motor car is, and what it can mean to its owner. Cullinan Series II has been created to build on that success. By integrating new technologies, new materials, meticulously considered design updates and innovative opportunities for self-expression through Bespoke, we retain everything our clients love about this motor car, ensuring its continued allure,” states Chris Brownridge, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
The original Rolls-Royce Cullinan was conceived as the world’s first super-luxury SUV, designed to be effortlessly capable both on and off-road, while delivering the unparalleled comfort and ‘magic carpet ride’ synonymous with Rolls-Royce. Its success has been remarkable, becoming the most sought-after model in the brand’s portfolio. The Cullinan Series II is a direct response to evolving luxury trends and client preferences, reflecting a deeper understanding of how owners use their rolls royce suv in today’s world.
“Since the launch of the first Goodwood-built Rolls-Royce, designers have taken great care to give every model its own distinctive aesthetic universe. Each is based on detailed insights gathered directly from our clients before the motor car is conceived, and throughout its life. Cullinan Series II is born of this approach: more energetic, focussed and expressive, in line with the priorities of today’s super-luxury consumers. In its new guise, Cullinan Series II remains effortless, everywhere – faithful to the principles and retaining the qualities that have made this motor car so successful. At the same time, it represents genuine progress and development, based on an evolved appreciation of luxury that adds statement and flourish to Cullinan’s original form,” explains Anders Warming, Director of Design, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
Evolving for the Urban Landscape: The Rolls-Royce SUV in the City
While the first Cullinan proved its off-road prowess, capable of reaching remote and challenging locations, Rolls-Royce observed a significant shift in how their clients were utilizing the rolls royce suv. More owners were using the Cullinan as a daily driver, especially in urban environments. The effortless performance of its 6.75-litre V12 engine, combined with its versatility, made it a favored choice even amongst owners with diverse car collections.
This urban focus is a key influence in the design and features of the Cullinan Series II. Rolls-Royce acknowledges that for many clients, the rolls royce suv serves as a statement of personal character and presence in the city, while still offering the freedom to escape into nature whenever desired. Another notable trend is the increasing number of owners who prefer to drive themselves. Self-driving rates have risen dramatically since the original Cullinan launch, with owners now valuing the personal driving experience. This shift towards a younger, self-driving clientele has shaped the evolution of the Cullinan Series II.
Cullinan Series II Exterior: A Bold Vertical Statement
The exterior of the Cullinan Series II reflects its urban context with a design language emphasizing verticality, inspired by the illuminated skyscrapers of modern megacities. The most striking change is the new lamp treatment, featuring prominent daytime running lights that create a distinctive visual signature, day or night, ensuring the rolls royce suv is instantly recognizable.
The front fascia of this rolls royce suv is characterized by clean, monolithic surfaces and sharp lines, enhancing its substantial proportions and road presence. The bumper lines form a subtle ‘V’ shape, reminiscent of yacht bows, while new air intakes angle outwards, giving the vehicle a wider, more grounded stance.
A key highlight is the introduction of an illuminated Pantheon grille for the first time on the Cullinan. This refreshed grille features a lower leading edge and a new polished horizontal ‘horizon line’ that connects the daytime running lights, creating a visual link to the flagship Phantom Series II.
In profile, subtle yet impactful changes refine the Cullinan Series II’s appearance. A precise feature line extends from the taillight forward to the ‘RR’ center caps on the rear wheels, creating a sense of motion and subtly tapering the vehicle’s silhouette. Updated lower valance surfaces, finished in high-gloss black, further enhance this impression of movement by reflecting the road surface.
The rear of the rolls royce suv makes a bold statement with mirror-finish stainless steel exhaust surrounds, seamlessly integrated into the body. A brushed stainless-steel protective plate between the exhausts adds a final touch of robust elegance.
Completing the evolved exterior styling are new 23-inch wheels, a first for the Cullinan. Milled from solid aluminum billets, these seven-spoke wheels are available in part or fully polished finishes, adding a further layer of contemporary luxury to this rolls royce suv.
A new exterior paint finish, Emperador Truffle, has been developed for the Cullinan Series II. Inspired by brown marble, this minimalist grey-brown hue, combined with the Bespoke ‘Crystal Over’ finish – a lacquer infused with glass particles – creates a subtle shimmer reminiscent of fresh snow, adding to the sophisticated appeal of this rolls royce suv.
Cullinan Series II Interior: Digital Craftsmanship and Botanical Inspiration
The interior of the Cullinan Series II is significantly enhanced with innovative decoration and detail, reflecting the desire for greater self-expression among Rolls-Royce clients. The most notable change is the pillar-to-pillar glass-panel fascia, creating a stage for both digital and physical craftsmanship within this luxury rolls royce suv.
The redesigned gauge cluster panel and central information display, now permanently visible, showcase the advanced SPIRIT operating system, first introduced on the all-electric Spectre. The Cullinan Series II marks the debut of SPIRIT in a V12-powered Rolls-Royce. This digital interface allows for extensive Bespoke personalization, extending from physical elements to the digital realm, with clients able to customize instrument dial colors to match the interior or exterior.
SPIRIT integrates Whispers, the Rolls-Royce private members application, directly into the rolls royce suv. Clients can remotely send destinations to their vehicle, track its location, and manage locking functions via the app, enhancing connectivity and convenience.
Connectivity is further refined throughout the cabin, particularly for rear passengers. They can now connect up to two streaming devices to the rear screens, which feature a Bespoke interface for streaming car management and seat functions like massage, heating, and cooling. Internet connectivity enables a Wi-Fi hotspot and independent streaming on each screen. For the first time in a Cullinan, Bluetooth headphones can be paired with the rear infotainment system, or passengers can enjoy the marque’s exceptional 18-speaker Bespoke Audio system, powered by a next-generation 18-channel 1400-watt amplifier. The rolls royce suv retains its unique speaker architecture, using cavities within the aluminum sill sections as resonance chambers for low-frequency speakers, effectively turning the entire car into a subwoofer.
The Illuminated Fascia panel on the passenger side, a feature previously seen on Ghost and Spectre, makes its Cullinan debut. It showcases an illuminated Cullinan wordmark and a Cityscape graphic inspired by city skyscrapers at night. This is achieved using a laser-etching technique with 7,000 dots on darkened security glass, creating a sense of depth. Clients can also commission bespoke Illuminated Fascia designs through Rolls-Royce Bespoke designers, further personalizing their rolls royce suv.
Adjacent to the Central Information Display is the new Spirit of Ecstasy Clock Cabinet. This unique vitrine houses both an analogue timepiece and an illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy figurine. The figurine, crafted from solid stainless steel, is presented on a stage with matte black and high-gloss side panels, creating a dramatic reflection effect. The integration of the Spirit of Ecstasy into the interior is the result of four years of development, blending analogue and digital craftsmanship to create a choreographed lighting sequence that begins upon entry, culminating in a soft glow illuminating the Spirit of Ecstasy.
Evolved Material Palette: Botanical Luxury
Reflecting the Cullinan’s capability to venture into nature, the interior material palette of the Cullinan Series II is inspired by botanicals. New Grey Stained Ash wood trim is introduced, a richly grained, open-pore wood with a delicate shimmer. Each log is individually selected, and the veneer ‘leaves’ are hand-stained and enhanced with microscopic metallic particles, a process that took over four years to perfect, adding to the exclusivity of this rolls royce suv.
The Cullinan Series II also features a new textile, Duality Twill, made from bamboo-derived rayon. Inspired by the bamboo grove at Le Jardin des Méditerranées near Sir Henry Royce’s former winter home, Villa Mimosa, this material connects the rolls royce suv to the brand’s heritage and natural inspirations.
The Duality Twill textile is embroidered with an artistic ‘Duality’ graphic, an abstract interpretation of the Rolls-Royce ‘RR’ monogram with nautical influences reminiscent of yacht ropes. Developed over a year with a master weaver now part of Rolls-Royce, a full Duality Twill interior can contain up to 2.2 million stitches and 11 miles of thread, taking 20 hours to construct. The textile is available in three base colors with 51 thread color options, offering extensive customization for this rolls royce suv.
Placed Perforation, a new contemporary craft technique, is also introduced on the Cullinan Series II. This technique creates artwork through tiny perforations in the leather. For the Cullinan, the design is inspired by clouds over the Home of Rolls-Royce, featuring up to 107,000 perforations, each individually checked for uniformity, showcasing the meticulous craftsmanship inherent in every rolls royce suv.
Cullinan Series II: Continuing a Legacy of Super-Luxury
The Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II represents a significant evolution of the original, solidifying its position as the ultimate super-luxury SUV. By incorporating advanced technology, refined design, and exquisite new materials, Rolls-Royce continues to shape the future of luxury motoring in collaboration with its discerning clientele, ensuring the Cullinan remains the benchmark rolls royce suv for years to come.
