What is a Career Program CP51 Position in the U.S. Army?

The U.S. Army has broadened its Career Program system to encompass all Army Civilian employees, introducing 31 Career Programs designed to bolster professional development. Among these, Career Program 51 (CP51) is a newly established program tailored for Army professionals in general administration and management roles. CP51 is designed to support over 18,000 professionals across a diverse range of occupations.

CP51 specifically caters to positions within the following occupational series:

To enhance career progression for individuals in these series, the Army is developing comprehensive Occupational Series Career Maps and a CP51 specific Army Civilian Training Education and Development System (ACTEDS) Plan. These resources are designed to provide personnel with the necessary information, tools, and insights into training and development opportunities that align with their career aspirations.

The ACTEDS Plan and Career Maps are intended to be accessible through the Army Career Tracker. By utilizing these resources, Army Civilians can proactively engage in career planning discussions with their supervisors and develop actionable strategies for achieving their professional objectives. A communication strategy is also being implemented to keep CP51 professionals informed through newsletters, emails, and a dedicated CP51 website in the future. For ongoing updates, the Civilian Workforce Transformation (CWT) Website remains a valuable resource. Direct inquiries can be sent via email to the provided Army email address.

Furthermore, the Enterprise Talent Management Program (ETMP), incorporating the former IMCOM G9 Leader Development Assignment Program (LDAP), is available to support leadership development within IMCOM. This program aims to cultivate leaders with broad competencies and experience, essential for leadership roles within the organization. The ETMP is open to appropriated and non-appropriated fund employees across IMCOM commands and regions. Additional details, including vacancy listings, application instructions, and eligibility criteria, can be found on the IMCOM Talent Management Center (TMC) AKO portal.

This initiative underscores the Army’s commitment to investing in its civilian workforce, ensuring that professionals in administration and management roles under CP51 have the resources and support needed for successful and fulfilling careers.
