Keep holding them until the indicator light on the HomeLink system starts to blink slowly and then rapidly. This process usually takes about 20 seconds. Once the indicator blinks rapidly, release both buttons. This reset ensures a clean slate for programming your Genie opener.

Step 2: Train HomeLink with Your Genie Handheld Remote

Car2U systems come with factory default settings that pre-assign buttons to specific garage door opener brands:

• Button 2: LiftMaster® Openers

Similar to HomeLink, programming Car2U involves a slightly different process depending on whether you have a newer or older Genie garage door opener model.

• For Newer Genie Models with a “Program” Button:

2. Now, press and hold the button you want to change to control your Genie opener (either button 2 or 3). The LED above the button you are holding will start to flash. While continuing to hold this button, press and release button 1. Press and release button 1 again.
3. Release the button you held in step 2 and wait for the LED to stop flashing. This button is now programmed for your Genie opener. You can repeat Step 2 to program a second Car2U button for another Genie opener if needed.
