2024 BMW M3 CS: An Owner’s Perspective on Daily Driving and Track Performance

The BMW M3 CS stands out as a vehicle designed for both exhilarating track days and everyday usability. As an owner who uses the M3 CS as their sole car, accumulating 8,900 miles with approximately 500 track miles, I can offer firsthand insights into its versatility and durability. My experiences, while specific to the CS model, likely resonate with owners of other BMW M3 variants as well. In short, the 2024 Bmw M3 Cs has not only met but exceeded my expectations.

Living with the M3 CS has been remarkably easy throughout all seasons. It’s a joy to drive whether navigating city streets, exploring back roads, or pushing its limits on a race track. This car seamlessly handles daily tasks such as grocery shopping, passenger transport, luggage hauling, and serves equally well for business and personal needs. Reliability has been flawless – the cabin remains free of rattles or unwelcome noises. Even in stop-and-go traffic, the integrated technology significantly eases the burden of commuting.

The M3 CS exhibits a dual personality: docile and comfortable when desired, yet transforms into a high-performance machine at a moment’s notice. Contrary to some reviews suggesting otherwise, I find the steering and braking to be exceptionally communicative. While it took a few autocross and track sessions to fully grasp the nuances, I now feel deeply connected to the car’s feedback after eight track days and four autocross events.

The compromises inherent in the CS model are, for me, negligible. The absence of traditional cup holders is easily addressed with a Yeti tumbler placed in the door pocket. Similarly, the lack of an armrest hasn’t been an issue, even on drives exceeding two hours.

I have yet to encounter a situation where another vehicle would have been preferable. The only minor drawbacks are its tendency to attract attention, despite choosing a black exterior to be somewhat discreet. It subtly broadcasts “performance car,” which can be a double-edged sword. Fortunately, law enforcement has been lenient thus far, even without a front license plate.

The Black Sapphire Metallic paint, while stunning when clean, does require frequent washing and detailing – a 3-4 hour endeavor I’ve come to appreciate. The result is undeniably worth the effort, showcasing the car’s striking aesthetics.

Delving into the cost of ownership, expenses over the past 15 months total $9,940. This figure encompasses all maintenance, parts, labor, insurance, and track/autocross fees, but excludes fuel and monthly car payments.

In terms of consumables and repairs, preventative maintenance has been a priority. I opted for three engine oil changes, and the rear differential oil was replaced during the initial break-in service. For track use, I switched to Pagid RSL29 track pads (now reverted to the original pads for daily driving) and have gone through two front tires, replacing them with lightly used sets.

Despite careful driving, I did incur minor damage to a section of the front spoiler. Thankfully, it’s a replaceable component, though still expected to be a costly repair.

Additionally, a small dent was sustained on the front radiator, which currently does not necessitate immediate repair.

In conclusion, the 2024 BMW M3 CS is decidedly not a plush luxury car, and that’s precisely its appeal. It’s firm and responsive without being harsh or uncomfortable. The suspension tuning is expertly calibrated, providing minimal body roll with excellent road compliance. The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires perform admirably on both dry and wet roads and are competent on track, though they can overheat when pushed aggressively. However, for autocross events, they are near perfect.

Every drive in the M3 CS is a pleasure, and passengers consistently find it enjoyable. A memorable road trip with my wife involved scenic routes through farms, mountains, and quaint villages, filled with music, conversation, and stops at local farmers markets. The M3 CS enhanced every aspect of the journey.

Looking ahead, winter maintenance includes replacing the damaged front spoiler piece, fitting track-specific tires, installing a new set of RSL29 pads, rebuilding the calipers, performing a new alignment, and completing engine and transmission oil changes.

My ownership experience with the 2024 BMW M3 CS has been exceptional. It fulfills all my automotive desires, perhaps only wishing for a bit less attention. It’s a truly outstanding vehicle, a worthwhile investment, and one I plan to keep long-term. I hope fellow owners derive even greater enjoyment from their M3 CS models. Happy Thanksgiving!
