William (Billy) James Cameron, a respected construction project manager at Freije Engineered Solutions and a cherished resident of Noblesville, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on May 20, 2020. He was 29 years old. Billy’s passing occurred while he was on vacation in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCA) in Lake County, Minnesota, a place that reflected his love for the outdoors.
Billy is lovingly remembered by his mother, Akemi Cameron, and his devoted long-term girlfriend, Nataly Yokhanis. His brothers, Yohei Cameron, and Shun (Breanna) Cameron, and sisters, Loredana (Curt) Kremerskotter, and Rosalie Cameron, also survive him. He was a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews: Kaylee and Kenzie Cameron, Jacqueline Orcutt, Curtis Cameron, and Lorelai Kremerskotter. Numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins also mourn his loss. Billy was predeceased by his father, William (Bill) Cameron, and his grandparents, Toshikazu and Aya Tokunaga, and William Cameron, and Barbara Hall.
Born in Tokyo, Japan, on May 18, 1991, to Bill and Akemi Cameron, Billy spent his formative years growing up in Carmel, Indiana. He pursued his passion for building and construction, earning a degree in Construction Management from Ball State University in 2014.
Beyond his professional life, Billy was deeply committed to those he loved. He envisioned a future proposing to Nataly, his girlfriend, and was a doting uncle. Known for his friendly nature, Billy made friends easily and was a valued companion to many.
Athleticism was a significant part of Billy’s life. He dedicated much of his childhood to hockey, traveling across the country for the sport alongside his father. His talent and dedication culminated in winning the prestigious Hobey Baker Award in 2009 while playing for the Carmel Icehounds, a testament to his skill and passion for hockey.
Billy was also an avid outdoorsman and craftsman. He found joy in projects involving woodworking, welding, and engineering, showcasing his skilled and hands-on nature. Backpacking and camping were more than just hobbies; they were passions that Billy pursued with fervor. He meticulously planned his vacation time around these outdoor adventures, seeking solace and challenge in nature.
Described as incredibly patient, kind, loving, and loyal, Billy possessed a remarkable character. His attention to detail was evident in all aspects of his life, driven by a desire to excel in everything he undertook. Billy was a natural problem-solver, willingly taking on challenging tasks at work and consistently being the first to assist his mother with home projects, reflecting his helpful and dependable nature.
